Glorious music of Travis Puntarelli Levity @ onG kinG Arts Center from days past

One of the best creators of song alive on planet Earth. I flew him to Oahu to partake in our Solstice Celebration. He is a parade of song of truth and mirth. Summoning incantations which honor the best in each of us.

Listen close and your spirit will be lifted.

STOP

Its not a habit to tell people how to live. Go about you path, go in any direction. But please STOP. There are a myriad of ways to go. So go your way. But there are times when it is appropriate to Stop. I drive and someone hits a bird, the bird is hit again and it is down. I stop. I take it in my arms and do my best to give a peaceful experience of death, to leave a better impression of humanity. And this is not new. In the car when any of us drive accidents happen, people, animals, plants get hurt, so stop, take a moment to be there. It is so much easier to be OK when another being is there to make the experience less lonely. We will all die, there can be no blame. So be with it. If you cause it, stop and be with the reality of what happened. There is something you can do. Lend you senses, lend your heart. Your spirit is powerful and does not need the burden of running away. We can stop that beautiful creature from becoming a cluster of junk on a street. Stop. Take it off the road if you can. Just be with what is done, see it through.

It began in September of 2013. Perhaps it began before then, when I left the arts cenTer, when I stopped doing theatre – there had to be another way. Something I could offer my brothers and sisters that was deeper and more physical than performance art. A drink, as a passage to a connection, a connection as the start of a relationship. The drink would be deeply satisfying, like coffee, but more healthy, more local, more in tune. So I began to open to local plants and seek the wisdom of herbalists.

The questions of why, and what and how all came a the same time. So Tyson Webster of Vessel Bikes spoke to me of HOW? A rolling market was to be constructed. A Tea Cart, a cart that could carry the spirit of the plants into the hands of the people. We set about on a design that was cute, provided easy access, and still met all the California Health Code requirements. The concept, a steel rectangle that transforms into a polygon, creating a long counter top, complete with refrigerator, stove, sinks, and the ability to be bike pulled.

And then it had to meet the astringent standards of the state.

And so it does. And now. Now we have 2 Farmers Markets. Still the Cart is noIMG_1893 IMG_1894t done. Its facade is still in the works.

 

The Menu continues to evolve. With the evening menu featuring Probiotic Chocolate Mousse, Raw Chocolate Date Balls and the Morning Menu servin’ up Gluten-Free Fermented Pancakes with Homemade Rich Yogurt, and Big Hippie Granola infused with herbs. All the while hot Qi (pronounced KEY)

TEA is served with a deep roots base serving as a base for customers choice of one leaf and one flower. The iced teas are ever changing with Awaken the Depth and Roasted Nourish being favorites.

 

The goal is to bring herbs into the bodies and minds of all. And my personal goal is also have a Qi tea art house on Oahu. I miss the Oahu community so much, each day I speak some silly kine pigeon that makes no kine sense, but make me feel warm and glowing. Yes it must be possible to have a Qi tea art space here in Marin, and in my hometown of Washington, DC too.

They have rocked stages across the world, and are on the way home to Oahu from a tour in Europe. This is a band that must be felt on the dance floor, the music pulses with sitar flows from India, sacred Orisha drumming from NYC, and some of the finest percussion you will ever discover on this planet.

Taimane Garner was Discovered at the age of 13 by Don Ho, she is a charismatic and accomplished young songstress. Her style has been described as “cutting edge,” exhibiting a “controlled frenzy” on fast songs and toning it down with “gentle artistry” on slower melodies. She was a featured performer with the legendary Don Ho, playing Las Vegas and Palm Springs with him as a young adult and has also toured Japan and performed at the AVP Volleyball tour in Manhattan and in Las Vegas.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Taimane is a lovely blend of Samoan and Caucasian ancestry. Taimane, which means “Diamond” in the Samoan language was given the name by her parents because she was their very own sparkling treasure. She has a strong musical hertitage, as her mother performed professionally as a singer and Polynesian dancer in Samoa and competed in the Miss Universe contest.

The Genie is an avant garde per­form­ing artist and gui­tar loop­ing inno­va­tor; tak­ing a DJ approach to gui­tar, he is the cre­ator of a live-looping method called ‘scratch gui­tar’ and a unique brand of live-remixing called ‘g-mixing’. Bring­ing together a hybrid of gen­res, he uti­lizes uncon­ven­tional live pro­duc­tion styles, turntab­list tech­niques, and orig­i­nal loop­ing meth­ods. All of this while manip­u­lat­ing dials on his ped­als with his toes, pro­duc­ing uniquely mes­mer­iz­ing performances.

and Owner of ProcessSING Vocal Coaching in Fairfax, California. There she is leading group singing circles and private vocal coaching using the energetics and emotional undercurents of self expressions.

(Bio)See/Cristian Ellauri teaches spoken word/hip-hop and nature skills in the Bay Area. He has blessed the mic as Master of Ceremonies at over 80 festivals and events across the country. See is the founder of Honolulu’s Ong King Arts Center. He has written and directed three full-scale hip-hop theatre productions: Hip-Hopalypse, Jaguar Priests and Chase. In 2009-10 his solo hip-hop theatre performance, The Fool Truth, toured festivals throughout the USA.
